José Maria Prazeres Pós-de-Mina is the Mayor of Moura, Portugal, who oversaw the building of what was the biggest solar power plant in the world, in a town of just 16,500 people. This led to Moura being a net exporter of sustainable energy.

As a local player who had been taking the lead against global climate change, Moura was represented at Navigating Climate Change From Local to Global: the International Summit on Climate Change and Low Carbon Metropolises.

During the conference we asked José, with his translator Andre Linhas Roxas, to explain a bit more about the Moura project.
